ABOUT SMART TRANSPORT AND MOBILITY SUMMIT

A recent report revealed that the transportation sector is a significant contributor, accounting for 33.33% of global energy consumption, trailing only behind the industrial sector. To combat this, ongoing efforts are focused on implementing price controls and enhancing efficiency, aiming to slash the Kingdom’s annual transport emissions growth rate from its historical 7% down to 3% by 2030.

It projects that by 2030, carbon dioxide emissions from transportation will soar to 184 million tons.

The Saudi Arabian government is ambitiously restructuring the transport and logistics sectors to accommodate expected economic and population growth. The National Transformation Programme (NTP) and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Programme (NIDLP) outline comprehensive reform plans. These plans entail a government investment exceeding SR500 billion ($133.3 billion) in port, airport, rail, and other critical infrastructure developments through 2030.

In Riyadh, where the population has more than doubled since 1990 and is expected to continue rising, the Riyadh Development Authority (RDA) is spearheading transformative projects. Saudi Arabia's relentless drive for innovation and advancement heralds a new era in transportation evolution.

The Smart Transport and Mobility KSA Summit is a prestigious gathering set to unfold on 3 - 4 September 2024 in Riyadh, which will bring together ministries, industry experts, and innovators to explore the pivotal forces propelling Saudi’s mobility transformation.
